The Flat Roof Insulation
When choosing the construction type of the roof you must already know all the purposes for which you will use it. Generally, the roof protects your house from bad weather, winds, rains and snows, but you can use it many other ways as well.
Flat roof insulation systems
If you decide to have the
flat roof, you must know if you will use it just for the general protection, or you make a terrace or
green roof (roof garden) out of it. Very well for insulating the flat roofs is the reverse insulation, where the thermal insulation is placed on the (traditional) roofing materials. In this case the thermal insulation (made from unabsorptive, very solid materials like extruded
polystyrene insulation boards) goes on the traditional bitumen roofing (modified SBS or APP asphalt membranes) or mPVC (mellow, soft polyvinyl) foil.
Flat roof insulation for roof gardens
The reverse roof insulation can be used to create the roof garden too. If on on the reverse insulated flat roof another layer of material able to stop the growing roots of plants (bushes, trees) used to create the green roof garden, such roof can be changed to green roof terrace or roof garden. First, of course, you have to check the statics of the roof, as the mass of soil and vegetation necessary is really heavy.
