Solar Roof Shingles And Solar Roof Panels
The solar roof shingles vs solar roof panels
The solar collectors can be delivered either as the solar roof shingles or the solar roof panels. The main difference is that the solar roofing shingles can be laid directly onto the roof as part of the roofing.
Usually, they are not the isolated shingles but some larger shingle segments that fit the shingling plan perfectly as both solar shingles and the standard roofing shingles are manufactured by the same roofing manufacturer.
The solar roofing panels are more universal as they can be placed on almost any roof. They consist of the solar panel itself and the fastening frame which is screwed to the roof in a standard way.
How do the roof solar collectors work
The solar roofing panels have couple of plys. The most important ply, the one that catches the solar energy is called also the absorber.
The solar absorber is a copper plate treated with a very selective coating that helps it absorb up to 95% of the sunshine. From the outside it is covered by the 4mm thick secure glass and from the inside it is insulated with the 5 cm thick
mineral wool layer.
The solar roof panels installation
As I mentioned before, solar panels are universal and their installation is a childīs play, anyone can do that with a little help of the installation guide.
I only have only standard piece of advice, better do not do that alone, use standard roof work safety equipment including the safe
ladder and instead of huge solar panels rather choose more smaller segments.
If you contracted a proffesional roofer to cover your roof also try to manage that your roofing contractor installs the collectors as well (many of them are experienced enoug, just ask them in advance). I am almost sure you get better quality and pay less money compared to having two separate companies, one shingling and the second one installing the collectors.
